Desperate Democratic Deceit

July 18th 2008 05:36
They are at it again. There go the liberals repeating things over and over again hoping they’ll become “truth.” Let’s review, starting with the most recent:

Deceit: Barack Obama: “Removing the ban on offshore oil drilling won’t lower oil prices tomorrow, it won’t lower prices next week, next month,” yada, yada, yada.

TRUTH: Oil fell faster than it has since it started increasing 18 months ago when President Bush removed the Executive Order (over $10 a barrel in two days, more than 7.5%), and that was only half what was needed to start drilling again. Imagine what would happen if Congress acted as they should and took off their ban.

UPDATE: Oil fell $16 a barrel in three days! That's well over 10%. If the Democrats will stop bashing Bush long enough to act on this, we would see a much greater drop.

The Debate: The argument on this is that we’ll have our beach views blotted out by oil rigs and oil spills ruining the sand. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita didn’t cause any oil spills. Oil rigs are so far out in the ocean that they are either over the horizon or no more obtrusive than a boat. The piers and pipes provide surfaces for whole eco-systems.

Deceit: Democratic Chorus: “President Bush is trashing the Constitution.”

TRUTH: Where do we begin? I have way too much material here, but let’s start by defending the President. The ONLY parts he’s even accused of violating are the privacy and fair trial. Privacy: Listening to people’s phone calls ONLY WHEN THEY LEAVE THE U.S. to known hotspots is national security. If you’re not talking about blowing up buildings or sneaking a dirty bomb into New York City, you have nothing to worry about! Fair trial: The Constitution sets trial rules for U.S. CITIZENS, not illegal combatants that are not recognized military forces of a legal country. And these terrorists have to have A LOT of evidence against them from intelligence sources, their own admissions on websites and videos, etc., to not get way better treatment than they would get anywhere outside of Europe. Combatants like we are holding at Guantanamo would get beheaded, stoned or hung after show trials in most of the world if caught in those countries. The fact that these people are still alive and in good health speaks volumes.

And don’t even start on torture. I’m for a limited us of it, but the training handbooks of Al Qaida and Hezbollah and Hamas all say to claim torture whenever asked in order to demoralize the enemy’s citizens and turn them against their government. Look it up, it’s true.

Now let’s look at the Democrats: (1st Amendment) The “Fairness Doctrine” bill Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid want so desperately to pass would tell PRIVATELY OWNED radio stations what they have to program on their stations, effectively telling them what they can’t put on there, thus suppressing free speech. (2nd Amendment) Democratic outrage and defiance all over this country over the Supreme Court upholding the right to KEEP and BEAR arms. (1st Amendment) The ACLU omits portion of the text of the first amendment that change the language regarding state and religion. Compare the two texts, their website uses ellipses to cover the fact that the first amendment says Congress shall make no law establishing a religion, not that church and state should be separate.

Deceit: Democrats: President Bush is responsible for the failing economy.

TRUTH: First of all, our economy has slowed, and weakened, but it’s not failing. In 1993 there were 572 banks on the government’s watch list for worry. Today it’s 90. The economy grew 1% in the 2nd quarter of 2008. Gas and food prices are up and housing prices are down. The housing adjustment is as normal as the Internet stock bubble burst, but I didn’t hear anybody blaming Clinton for that. Second, while Presidents can exert some pressure on the fed and attempt through positive talk to keep people in good habits, they have little real effect on the economy other than: Taxes and regulations. We enjoyed the boom of the first six years of Clinton and the first six years of Bush Jr. because we didn’t over regulate and taxes stayed low. Other than that, their respective slowdowns are normal adjustments in the economy to what has been two periods of over heated growth.

Debate: The Democrats say they can fix the economy. Well, they’ve had control of the House and Senate with enough “moderate” Republicans to do something, but they haven’t even tried. Now they won’t move on oil prices because it won’t provide more oil immediately. If it’s going to take 5 years to see more oil flowing, then we should start today, or you can add the time they delay to the time it will take to get it done. They have blocked almost every other alternative energy source to bow down to environmental fear mongers. It was their ethanol laws that have pushed corn, and thus almost every other food product, through the roof. Animal feed, cereal and a host of other products all depend on corn production. AND ETHANOL IS AT LEAST 3 TIMES MORE POLLUTING than gasoline. Cities with Ethanol mandates are now failing clean air tests for the deadly, carcinogenic products of burning ethanol.

What’s Barack’s solution? Tax the rich, give to the poor. Who does he label as rich? People making over $250,000 a year. Well, yes, a person in rural Kansas making that much is high on the hog, but a person making that in San Fransicko, New York or Los Angeles is just doing very well. And who are these people making this money? Most of them are small business owners, lawyers, doctors, other professionals. Many of them have very high school loan debt. 85% of all jobs in America come from these small business owners, not CEO’s making $10,000,000 a month. The rich also find ways not to pay taxes. They have the money to find shelters for it, take it offshore, leave the country. And the Democrats won’t remove these escapes, for all their bluster, because Democratic politicians are “rich” too and will protect their own money. Let’s also point out that his plan to remove the $100,000 cap on Social Security taxes hits the teacher/firefighter couple in New York city a lot harder than the vice president of Chevron.

Add to that Nancy Pelosi’s procedural rangling to stop a free trade agreement with Colombia that would dramatically increase our exports and help strengthen a strong ally in South America, and you see their ineptitude. More exports equals more jobs equals a stronger economy. Duh.

Deceit: Democrats and Media: John McCain blundered big time when he said Iran was helping Sunni insurgents in Iraq because they and Iran are different Islamic sects.

TRUTH: John McCain was speaking from information in the National Intelligence Estimate that Iran was fueling both Shiite and Sunni resistance with people, arms and funds. Iran doesn’t care at the level of creating instability who is doing the destabilizing. They know that if the Shiites win, they could have an ally. If the Sunnis win at the cost of the U.S. leaving, they have a weak adversary.

I’m very disappointed in our next president, John McCain, for not speaking more forcefully on this, but maybe he’s waiting to play that card in debates.

Deceit: Democrats: John McCain said we would be in Iraq for 100 years, then strongly implying that Mr. McCain meant doing what we are doing now. I even had some intellectually dishonest Barack worshiper push this in the comments on Barack’s blog.

TRUTH: John McCain meant, and he’s said it many times, that we would probably have the same presence in Iraq that we have in Britain, Germany, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, etc. To continue to push this lie is to show you have no legitimate ideas, and you think you have to win by trumping up as much negative about the other candidate as you can.

In summary, the Democrats have no real plans other than tax the rich and create a brand new multi-billion dollar health care bureaucracy or we would have seen some of these ideas from Congress. This Congress has less than half the approval rating of President Bush and in a recent ABC News poll ranked lower than HMOs (13% approval for HMO’s, 12% for Congress). There is no other reason for this other than they do nothing positive. They are a continuous, negative stream of hate and vitriol for President Bush, rejecting whatever they can of his, while taking no positive action of their own. They haven’t attempted one change outside of riders on troop funding bills, playing politics with our troops.

With this oil drilling ban, I hope the American people have their eyes opened, and see the Democrats for who they really are.

Oh, and one more thing: Clinton judge appointments heard and confirmed by the Republican Senate in his lame duck time: all but one. Bush judge and other appointments frozen and ignored by the Democrats during these last two years: 15 and counting. Democrats are hardly practicing the fairness doctrine.
