Election Issues 5: Character and Judgment

October 9th 2008 21:45
This is a multi-part series on the issues. Hopefully my readers will gain what they need to convince their liberal friends. I’m a conservative. I’m writing this from a conservative point of view and this is not meant as journalism, but commentary.

Some people want to deny it, but character matters. One of the biggest elements of character is judgment. You can judge character from a person’s record and by whom they hang out with. Out of all the character traits most important to a President, judgment is the greatest. Nobody is 100% ready to be President on day one, there are too many issues and no one person is an expert in everything. He or she has to have a cabinet for advice, then make the decision using their best judgment.

McCain’s record is of a person that constantly pushes for reform. He hasn’t taken any earmarks, he fights pork, and he sponsors and pushes legislation to try to reform election financing. John McCain was only one of three sponsors of a bill in 2005 to put the brakes on Fannie and Freddie. Supporters couldn’t get the 60 votes it takes to get Senate bills debated.

John McCain has had one scandal: The Keating Five. In that investigation, the hard core Democrat Bob Bennett (Bill’s brother) exonerated McCain. McCain apologized for his part in the scandal, promised he had learned from it. Here’s the quote from Bob Bennett’s book:

After reviewing my report, the committee voted on October 23, 1990, to hold a public adjudicatory fact-finding hearing in the matter as to all five senators. This was perhaps the first time the recommendation of a special counsel not to charge a senator was rejected. This was pure politics as the Democrats on the committee did not want to cut McCain loose so that only Democrats would remain in the proceedings. If Senator McCain was not going to be cut loose, in retaliation the Republicans were going to keep Senator Glenn in the proceedings. McCain was the victim of politics, and poor Glenn was held captive to the decision on McCain. So much for nonpartisanship.

Here’s Bob Bennett on the Keating 5 scandal

Who has John McCain surrounded himself and worked with? Military heroes, moderate Democrats and Republicans. Everybody he works with and associates with love America and respect McCain’s “Country First” record.

It says a lot that Joe Biden said he would be honored to run with John McCain.

Speaking of Joe Biden, before he was named VP by Barack, he said over and over again that Barack is not ready to be President. Barack’s record? The only two bills libs can ever attach his name to dealt with preventing the spread of nuclear materials and ethics reform. Both of these bills were nearly unanimously supported. It’s like saying his great accomplishments are saying puppies are cute and the sky is blue.

Repeatedly Democratic figures have no answer for “What are Barack Obama accomplishments?” I’ve seen dozens of current and former Democratic elected officials change the subject, obfuscate, or point to the nuclear materials and ethics bills.

So with no record we have to look at who he has chosen to hang out with. Who has Barack Hussein Obama sought advice from and worked with?

When his mother sent him to Hawaii to go to school, according to Barack’s own book, he formed a mentor relationship with a man he calls Uncle Frank. Frank was a communist party member who lost his NAACP chapter because the NAACP doesn’t want any appearance that they are allied with the communists. This is the man who Barack went to in order to try to understand who he was as a black man in a white world.

Ok, so he had a communist radical as his first mentor. If that was it, we could let it go as youthful indiscretion and look towards his other more patriotic relationships. . . .

Nope. Off he went to Occidental, then transferred to Columbia University in New York. There he spent two years as a roommate of a radical Pakistani that won’t do interviews now. We can give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn’t take on this man’s views.

Obama then graduates Columbia and heads to the liberal machine run Chicago to be a community organizer. In Chicago he works with ACORN and other groups to try to do things like remove asbestos from tenements, etc. This was important and good work, but Obama began a part of his record that is very concerning: he began looking where to go next right away. He only worked as a community organizer for a relatively short time before heading off to Harvard.

The guide for this community organizing group was a book by Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals, which had as its dedication a shout out to the “first radical . . . Satan.”

At Harvard Law his great accomplishment was to become the first black editor of the Harvard Law Review. However, he wrote no major papers or opinions, just compiled and edited others.

Barack then returned to Chicago with his law degree and went to work for a law firm that, among other things, sued banks for not providing enough sub-prime mortgages on behalf of ACORN and other groups. He worked as an ACORN trainer, because the leader of ACORN was so impressed with the job he did.Read more about ACORN here. In Nevada they “registered” the entire Dallas Cowboy’s football team.

Side note: Pollsters “weight” their polls based on number of registered members of both parties, and between the heavy ACORN fraud and Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos (where Republicans switched parties to vote for Hillary and prolong the battle), the number of Democrats is inflated and hurts polls. So, don’t believe them. They’ll be more incorrect this year than any other Presidential election.

Here’s where it gets interesting. Obama began attending a church led by a pastor that hates America. Reverend Wright preached hate towards white people and America from the pulpits. The Trinity United Church of Christ website and the videos they put out confirm this. Obama told Bill O’Reilly that he attended at least twice a month for 20 years, so that means 480 sermons. Yet, Obama tries to claim he didn’t hear his pastor speak like this. Yeah, and pigs can fly.

Trinity has helped a lot of people in the community. As far as doing many of the things churches are supposed to do, they have done well. However, their rhetoric and their support for the Marxist Black Liberation Theology are hateful and dangerous to America. Yet he sat in these pews for twenty years with his wife and young daughters.
Bill Ayers on Flag

One man who was very impressed with Barack’s work and with whom Barack worked was Bill Ayers, an unrepentant terrorist with the Weather Underground. He had formed the Chicago Annenberg organization to radicalize education in Chicago. Ayers explained his vision for education while visiting his friend Hugo Chavez in Venezuela recently (you really need to read this one). This year parents in Chicago boycotted the schools because they are so bad.

Bill Ayers and his wife were involved with bombing the capitol, pentagon and other sites. In 2001 Ayers said they didn’t do enough and wishes they had done more. Ayers said he is a communist with a lower case ‘c’.

Bill Ayers hired Obama as the Executive Director for Annenberg and had him help distribute hundreds of thousands of dollars to people working to radicalize Chicago’s school kids. After this board, Obama agreed to serve with Ayers on the board of The Wood’s Foundation, another radicalizing group as recently as 2002, AFTER Ayers said he didn’t regret bombing American buildings.

Obama even wrote a quote for the jacket of Ayers’ book where he describes what he did and believes.

In 1995 Obama launched his campaign for the State Senate in Ayers’ living room. He worked with this guy on two boards.

If this doesn’t bother you, all these facts, then it should bother you that Obama LIES now by saying “He was just a guy in my neighborhood who did bad things when I was 8.” Would you describe somebody who hired you once, worked closely with you on two boards, who has a quote from you in his book jacket and helped launch your political career as “just some guy in the neighborhood.” Come on Mr. Obama, come clean!

Another indication of his character is that he ran for the state senate as the designated successor of a well-loved senator running for the U.S. House. When she lost her primary, she asked him to back out of the race so she could have her seat back. Obama refused so she ran against him. Obama used his law degree to challenge her ballot signatures and those of his other competitors and ran unopposed. He has always sought to remove opposition.

He asked the U.S. DOJ to take ads off the air about Ayers, even though they were backed by documented facts, including quotes from his own website. There are numerous other examples, even from this presidential election, of him trying to silence ads and statements critical of him. When Stanley Kurtz went on WGN Radio to discuss Ayers and other Obama relationships, Obama supporters received an alert email and flooded the phone lines of the station trying to get Kurtz off the air. The attempt failed but they still repeated it when he came on again later.

Again, if it was just one person here or there and you could point to other influential people that aren’t under ethics clouds or plain anti-American, anti-capitalist radicals, you could ignore these. Here’s the list again:

- Communist member “Uncle Frank” as a young man.
- Trainer and lawyer on behalf of ACORN, the group under 15 fraud investigations that receives support from the Obama campaign.
- Sat in a church led by an anti-American pastor Rev. Wright.
- Served on two boards and launched his campaign from the house of Bill Ayers.
- Roommate to a radical Pakistani.

This man, Barack Hussein Obama, lacks the experience and judgment to President.

Senator Obama once said American troops in Afghanistan are “air raiding villages and killing innocent civilians.”

One other thing to think about: When has Barack Obama ever said, "I'm sorry, I messed up." ? When he released a disgraceful ad about McCain and computers, when the reason McCain can't is his war injuries from 5.5 years of torture? No. He has never said he made a mistake.

Get out there and get McCain elected. We can’t afford to have this man a President.

Very nicely done, Jonathan! I'm going to use this as a link, if you don't mind. It boggles the mind that anyone is willing to vote for him. Add in the ACORN/sub-prime mess and it should be a flat-out defeat for him. But so many brain-dead peoplpe still believe in him. It's truly nauseating!

Hey Jonathan WOW !!! What a wonderful post, man. I agree with you, I just wish John McCain would say all this to his face at the next debate.
