Hopenchange 3

February 17th 2009 17:40
Been a while since I posted, but my day job has been intense. However, it's time for my next review of Hope and Change.

Hypocrisy
This is definitely a change in the White House. I mean, President Bush did what he asked us to do and you knew where he was coming from.

But Obama has changed that! He did bring change! After lecturing us during the campaign that the world wasn't going to let us keep "driving our SUV's and setting our thermostats at 72 degrees," Axelrod told us regarding Obama not wearing a sport coat in the Oval Office: "He's from Hawaii and he's used to warmth. You could grow orchids in there!" Tremendous! So Obama wants us to be cold while he keeps the Oval Office hot enough to grow orchids!

It was so nice of him to thank fellow Democrats in Virginia for giving him the opportunity to fly on Air Force One for the first time! Never mind that if he'd just stayed on Marine One from the White House to the retreat it would have only taken 45 minutes. Instead he flew Marine One to the airport, then flew on Air Force One to Virginia. Yes, no waste there, since Air Force One only costs the taxpayers $57,000 per hour of operation and has a much larger "carbon footprint" than Marine One. Just for you Mr. Obama, I'll drive my Dodge Durango everywhere, since I'll be saving more than you by doing it!

Oh, and then there's Princess Pelosi! Boy, she sure had to rush that spendulous bill through! She had to get on her taxpayer provided PRIVATE PLANE and fly to Italy on OUR tax dollars so she could make lunch in Florence! Today she's meeting with the Pope! Hopefully he will explain to her that the question of abortion has been been settled in the Catholic church: it's an abomination. I hope Benedict sets her straight since she's spending taxpayer money to fly there and back on her private Gulfstream!

Then there's the Senate, sending a White House plane to pick up Sherrod Brown from his mother's wake to make sure he got back to sign the worst spending bill in American history! Hurry, hurry, hurry! Obama needs to sign it as soon as . . . oh, he can wait until a big ceremony on Tuesday. No need to rush now that we've rushed it past the American people.

About that: Didn't Princess Pelosi and Prince Dingy Harry promise 48 hours to review any legislation before passing it? So this monstrosity is finished in negotiations at 9pm on Thursday and voted on Friday morning. WOW! If I use that logic I worked 32 hours yesterday! Nobody who voted for it had time to read it through!

On top of that, Obama promised that all bills would be up for five days before he signed them! I guess three days of analysis of a bill that up until yesterday was only a marked up draft equals five days! Whew, good thing a trillion dollars of my grandchildren's taxes is being spent so carefully!

Lies
"There is no pork in this bill," said Obama last week while campaigning, um, I mean holding town halls. Oh, so $8 billion for a high-speed train from LA to Las Vegas isn't pork? Of course not, considering it will take at least 5 years of environmental impact studies before it is built and then starts bleeding money like Amtrack and every other mass transit system in the US.

Maybe he missed the $30 million to protect mice in Nancy Pelosi's district! It's possible, since he didn't have time to read the bill either while he was on vacation in Chicago. I mean, he's spent only half of his first 30 days actually in the White House. President Bush was attacked for spending eight to ten weeks a year in Crawford or at Camp David, but Obambi is on pace to only spend six months a year in the White House. Bet the press won't care!

I'm sure he didn't miss the hundreds of millions for groups like ACORN. That's a great big thank you for fraud to help him get elected!

"This is the worst economy since the Great Depression," he repeats over and over, working to create fear by saying we're headed into "catastrophe" and "calamity." Gee, I thought Republicans were the ones who use the "politics of fear." Oh wait, they only did that after 3,000 Americans died in a terrorist attack on the US. The economy is only half as bad off as Carter made it in the late 70s. It's nowhere near 1929 yet, but he's working on it.

On the topic of working on it: Hoover pushed us over the edge into the Great Depression, after a credit bubble burst (sound familiar?), by passing a massive, wait for it, SPENDING BILL! Then FDR convinced the country to spend, spend, spend to get out of the depression. Then in 1939 Treasury Secretary Morgenthal said, "We've spent more than ever before and it hasn't worked." World War II ended up being what got us out of the depression!

Japan's "lost decade" of the 1990s saw ten spending "stimulus" bills in eight years that did NOTHING. Their economy floundered through all of it until they started to dismantle the added government and cut taxes. Ten spending bills in eight years, no improvement in their economy.

What has worked? Reagan cut taxes and recovered from Carter's legacy of 21% interest rates, 12% inflation and 12% unemployment, sending us into 25 years of almost constant growth. Republicans kept the line against Clinton. Unfortunately they also became spenders, but nobody is perfect.

President Bush took over after the Internet bubble burst and the recession is caused. Then he had 9/11 which could have plunged us into deep recession. What did he do? He cut taxes and until the housing and credit bubble burst we had 6 years of steady growth in GDP. From 2001 until May 2008 President Bush warned 23 times that the ACORN and Fannie/Freddie driven high-risk mortgage bubble would cause problems. But he had used his political capital on things like protecting the country from terrorism and liberating 30 million Iraqis and establishing an Islamic democracy in the middle of tyranny.

But don't worry folks! The media will hold him accountable right? They'll analyze the bill and won't leave it the hands of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and all the others right? NO! They'll do six hours on how Obambi is like Lincoln and bring in experienced political analysts like Magic Johnson to tell us how Obambi's basketball skills will translate to a great presidency!

When Bush "talked down the economy" the media went nuts and brought in experts to talk about how psychology also helped the economy and Bush needed to talk positive. Obama has been doom and gloom since November 4th, but the media has just participated in it and encouraged it.

No, you can't depend on the media to hold him accountable. You'll have to do your own research!

Right on the money, Jonathan! Have you seen some of the crappola in the secret bill? Boggling! Even Democrats might have pulled back if they'd been allowed to read all the fine print!

On another note, my husband made off with your book and read every word! Now it's my turn. Good job!

It's good to have you back! I miss your comments and posts.
