Progressive Based Poll Reveals Obama and Dems Losing Ground
May 13th 2010 23:40
According to the Democracy Corps-Third Way survey released Monday, a majority of the American people believe the United States is less respected in the world than it was two years ago, and finds that President Obama along with other Democrats are trailing behind Republicans when it comes to matters of our national security. The interesting note about this survey is the fact it was produced by the Democracy Corps which is the brainchild of James Carville and Stanley Greenberg – two of the more liberal names in American politics. The Third Way by its own definition is a “moderate think tank of the progressive movement” and here they are, confirming the very issues they have been denying based upon more conservative polling results.
By a 10-point margin (51%-41%), Americans believe the standing of the U.S. throughout the world has dropped during the first 13 months of Obama’s presidency. Pollsters for several liberal-leaning organizations responded by saying, “This is surprising, given the global acclaim and Nobel peace prize that flowed to the new president after he took office.” With that said, it would do us well to put things in perspective. Obama received global acclaim based upon his campaign and he received the Nobel Peace prize long before he ever accomplished anything of international significance. Many people believe the relevance of the Nobel Peace prize has been diminished by the frivolous decision to award the prize to Obama before he “earned it.”
While the results of the survey may be surprising to the liberal pollsters; it is what mainstream Americans have been saying all along. Perhaps it is time for the “think tankers to come out of the tank” and get back on the streets where the everyday “thinking people” are.
Democracy Corps has billed itself as an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to making the government of the United States more responsive to the American people. It has now heard from the American people and we are left to wonder exactly what the response will be beyond what the leaders of Democracy Corps have already said in so many words, “It is not a good time for liberals and moderates to be involved in elections.”
