Politics Realm - A Conservative Perspective

Reactionary Leadership Has Adverse Results

May 3rd 2010 14:53
To say the least, we are in an extremely “hot season” politically. The US finds itself facing many public policy changes, economic uncertainties, internal political party dissensions, news media speculations, and volatile circumstances in a wide range of venues – all at the same time. These issues are having a profound effect upon both the government and the people; affecting policies such as immigration, health care, unemployment and deficit spending, not to mention the 2010 midterm elections which is being shaped by these “hot buttons”. Long after 2010 comes to an end, the ramifications will affect future generations.

Instead of fearing movements and media such as the Tea Party or Fox News, as the liberal media would have us to do; we should be thankful they are serving to hold the country in balance at a time when there is a major shift toward liberal perspectives and policies. Much of this shift is not taking place out of the conviction that it is the right thing to do, but rather, it is a reaction to the previous administration of George Bush. It is time for the current administration to stop leading from the position of “reaction” which by its very nature breeds opposition, obstruction and extremism.

Arizona took action with the governor signing a new law that requires state and local authorities to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are in the country illegally. While Arizona is taking heat for their decision, it must be remembered that they did so only after it become clear the Obama administration was not going to act. Now that Arizona has taken action, once again the Obama administration finds itself in the “reacting mode”. Instead of acting on what is right for the American people, it will react to what it perceives to be wrong with the Arizona legislation. President Obama was reacting when he said the new law will prompt police harassment of U.S. citizens who appear Hispanic.

The point made is our politically “hot season” is being faced with reaction rather than action. Reactions tend to lead into adverse decisions and policies which create even greater reactions. We have reached a point where Democrats react to Republicans and Republicans react to Democrats no matter the issue creating an impasse. The competition between the parties has become more like that between the Redskins and the Cowboys rather than the setting aside of personal and political agendas for the good of the country.

It is not just the candidates who are reactionary; it is the voters as well. Maybe it is time we all took a lesson from our founding fathers who “acted in order to form a more perfect union.” We are still living in the positive ramifications of the decisions they made well over two hundred years ago.

It's always easier to frame a response than to come up with a new idea. Rather than establish a platform that is in line with his beliefs (which no one would vote for) all B.O. (B.S.) can do is keep fighting the 2008 election over and over again, employing tactic of fear and retribution instead of positive growth.

Too bad so many sheeple are following him over the cliff. We need to make the choice clear and present new ideas as well as a return to the Constitution.
