Socialist Convention Day 4

Oh, so juicy, so meaty. If Obama's speech was a deer and I was a hunter, I could feed my family and many homeless people. I only hope my hands can hold up through all the typing . . .

Values: Hard work, self reliance. Bravo! Yes, that America. That's the America that you lived in to get to where you are Mr. Obama. Most Americans hold these values and don't want anybody's help to get there. Yet, his proposals are for hand outs, not hands up.
"I am my brother's keeper." He repeated this during the speech. Really? Your brother lives in a 6x9 hut in Kenya on $12-20 a year. Think you could send $24 of that $4 Million you made last year and triple his income? And libs, don't give me that bunk he doesn't know him. He's met him twice and he's a blood relative. Apparently charity doesn't begin at home for Obama.
Speech
Wow. Beautiful junk.
Obama spoke about more being out of work, more losing their houses, etc. Can he please tell us more than when? Because as I posted on Thursday, we're better than Clinton’s era. Unemployment relative to the last 30 years is still very low. When people lose their houses they don't end up under a bridge, they have to rent somewhere or live with family. Home ownership is relatively new in this country, as late as the early 70s most people rented. It's not the end of the world and it can be the best way to get back on your feet. Give me a break.
I get tired of the constant individual examples: "The man I met who is losing his job at the factory, the woman who can't get healthcare. . . " You know what, that happens in the best economies. I once saw a statistic that you won't find 90% of the Fortune 500 on the list ten years later. Companies fail, merge, change, split, and evolve. People losing their jobs is part of the economy. You won't end it with the best economy ever seen. But they have to use individual anecdotes because most of the economic statistics either go over peoples heads or they tell a different story.
He claimed corporations are moving to China. Well, at this point I'm going to chop him apart. This element of the speech throughout was inconsistent, inaccurate and demonstrative of his Marxist influences:
1) He said that corporations are moving to China
2) Then he criticized $100 Millions in tax breaks to corporations. This was done, Mr. Obama, as part of the effor to keep them from . . . wait for it . . . MOVING TO CHINA.
3) Later he says he would give tax breaks to corporations that invested in America . . . Um, that's what you just criticized earlier, but I guess Oprah was crying to hard to notice . .
4) Finally, he said he would pay for his list of government programs by . . . closing loopholes that corporation use to not pay taxes . . . I'm sorry, did you just call tax breaks that you criticized Republicans for, then said you would give them, loopholes? They aren't loopholes they are other forms of pork that both parties give their constituents and TAX Breaks to keep them here in America.
I've linked it several times already but I'll say it again. America has the highest corporate tax rate, we live in a global economy and there is very little to keep companies that don't need our infrastructure (like an electric company) from going overseas. Not just farming out their tech support department, but moving their WHOLE company to a country with less taxes. Watch HGTV's House Hunter's International and look at the kind of luxury the executives can buy in these countries. WE MUST CONTINUE TO LOWER THE TAX RATES TO KEEP CORPORATIONS, EMPLOYERS, IN THIS COUNTRY.
He once again repeated the idiotic claim that John McCain voted with George Bush 90% of the time. 90% of the votes in the Senate are unanimous fluff and pomp, like congratulating the Giants for winning the Super Bowl. On the things that matter, he has been fighting him. He pushed for the surge in Iraq in 2003 and called for Rummy's resignation when he wouldn't do it. He has repeatedly and publicly disagreed with Bush on what qualifies as torture and whether it should ever be used to save American lives, was first to be vocal on climate change, and fought this administrations out of control spending. If we'd done the Iraq war McCain's way, we would have ended it two years earlier than we are about to, as the surge has done the job.
Speaking of the surge, why won't Obama acknowledge it? He does have the arrogance to suggest that Al-Maliki is now negotiating a timetable because he suggested it. How freaking arrogant! We would not be at the point of even being able to negotiate this if not for Bush finally listening to John McCain and replacing Rummy and Clark and putting in the surge. It was the hard work of American troops driving the insurgents out and crushing those who would stop democracy. This week Muqtada al-Sadr disbanded his militia entirely. The largest Sunni faction is back in the government. This is a result of the surge, not of a Senator and presidential candidate.
He supports the troops? This proves he's an even bigger arrogant empty suit than we thought. If you support them, give them the credit. Many Americans would change their opinion of Obama if he would!
On energy, Obama could fuel several dozen cars with his hot air. That's all it is. He said ten years to energy independence? Why should it take so long. We can put a man on the moon in eight years, build the Panama Canal with the technology we had back then in ten, and everything else we do so quickly with American innovation but it will take ten years to do it? That doesn't jive with faith in America.
Then he says drilling won't solve the problem, we need to use our natural gas. Hello! Natural gas is a by-product of drilling for oil. He is plainly hoping the American people are too dumb to do their own research. If we want to increase our natural gas output, we have to - drill everywhere, offshore, on shore, ANWR, everywhere. Gov. Palin knows this, she forced BP and Conoco to start building a pipeline (due to be done in 5 years, not 10) to increase natural gas supplies.
He claims John McCain has spend 26 years just talking about energy. Um, Biden's been there longer, what has he done. Plus, with gas prices at $1, even $2, there was no economic incentive to do anything about it. Also, it has been DEMOCRATS IN THE POCKET OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL LOBBY that has made drilling and researching so difficult. A huge windfarm in San Diego can't get the power to San Diego because environmentalists won't let them run the transmission lines across PUBLIC LANDS to bring the power in.
Let me digress a second here. If the most radical environmentalists had their way, we would have one child for every two adults, so our population would die off. We would walk everywhere and do our work by daylight (candles produce carcinogens, and horses produce "greenhouse gasses" too). This is the lobby that the Nancy Pelosi's of this world listen too. Heck, N.P. has them as her constituents. William Ayers, who hosted one of Barack's announcement for the state senate events, said he looks at our skyscrapers and cement and dreams of blowing them up and seeing them fall.
Obama listed the programs he wants to start or expand (underlined, my rebuttal on each point no underlined. That's so libs can understand what I'm doing):
- Provide every child a world class education. This is dem-speak for increase spending. Every community that has, rather than spending more money, increased school choice have the best schools in the country. Wherever parents have choices, competition drives even the public schools to get better.
- Free education and more money to teachers. Every time that this has been done, administrators get richer administrating it. Want better teachers, give them competition for jobs because other schools are better. Don't let a teacher get tenure that is lousy and don't let unions protect bad, even horrible, teachers from being fired. In Fresno we had a dozen teachers doing paperwork on teachers salaries because they were so bad or dangerous that they couldn't be allowed in the classroom, but they couldn't be fired. You cut out that waste and public schools have more money. With competition, schools would not be able to capriciously fire good teachers they disagree with or they wouldn't be able to compete. It's simple, but unions hate it and dems are union slaves.
- National health care. Public health care nearly bankrupted Massachusetts. Later in his speech he said he would reduce bureaucracy in the budget line by line (um, Dems have blocked line item veto). This after he said he would create this brand new bureaucracy. If you create national health care, employers that don't need it to compete for employees will drop it, rapidly increasing the cost for taxpayers. He has said he'll give tax breaks to corporations for providing health insurance, but that's at a cost to taxpayers as well. Health insurance can be made more affordable by getting rid of the mandatory minimum coverage rules and letting individuals buy insurance across state lines. This competition has already been shown to work. By creating this competition and reducing taxes for businesses of all size insurance costs can be reduced and afforded much better.
- Free college educations. He wants to make college more affordable? Tell his liberal supporters that run most colleges in this country to stop using their rich alumni to build stadiums and fancy buildings and instead reduce their own salaries and spend more money on scholarships. College is not a right, you earn it. It's another handout. Obama wants to raise taxes on the top 5% of incomes? That's a lot of the college administrators that have taken their schools to the point of being so expensive. . .
- Cut taxes for 95% of Americans. Um, half of Americans don't pay any taxes. He plans on creating tax credits. You know what tax credits do compared to deductions? Deductions don't increase your refund, they reduce your liability, so they only increase your refund if you paid those taxes you're getting back. Tax credits mean that if you pay zero taxes, and Obama gives you a $1,500 tax credit, you get $1,500. Doesn't matter if all year you never made enough to pay taxes, you get $1,500. Who pays the taxes to give this credit? The other 5%. What is that called? MARXISM. The top 5% already pay 60% of the taxes while making only 37% of the income. Half of Americans pay no taxes. HALF. I'd say our tax code is just fine.
Think I couldn't get any more critical? How about this outrageous statement Obama made: "John McCain hasn't even followed Osama bin Laden to his cave."
GAH! Does he really mean to suggest that a president with a 29% approval rating knows where Osama is and hasn't killed him to improve his and his party's approval rating? Does he really want to suggest a decorated hero like John McCain has let Osama live willingly? Does he have the ARROGANCE to suggest that if he were President, a man who has never even served in the military and with only a grandfather that has ever served that we know of, he would have done better so far?
If you want a president that will get Osama bin Laden and not insist he be back brought alive and given the rights of a U.S. citizen (as Democrats have insisted for Osama's soldiers in Gitmo), then John McCain and Sarah Palin are your ticket. The 27 year officer of the Navy, who has actually run a base and commanded combat units will do what the community organizer will have no clue what to do. We saw what a liberal general (Wesley Clark, the now proven crackpot they wouldn't let speak at the DNC) did in Iraq.
With all this talk, 44 minutes of rhetoric, on the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King's I have a dream speech, upon whose shoulders Obama stands, he doesn't mention the speech once? He gives no mention of the civil rights movement at all? He only spoke of himself.
He speaks of self reliance. Then, if you do pull yourself up and get "rich" he will take over half of what you make and give it to "poor" people, even if those people make no effort to pull themself up.
He said McCain thinks you're middle class if you make less than $5 Million dollars. This is such a distortion and a taking of the bait, it is almost funny. At the Saddleback thing, Rev. Warren asked McCain to define rich. McCain wouldn't, saying that politics like that are not productive, every American should have low taxes. Finally, McCain when pressed, JOKED "They'll probably try to use this against me, but I'll say $5 Million." He knew that no matter what he said, liberals would jump on it. The poorest American is rich compared to Obama's brother. Truly progressive taxation would be a flat, even percentage on everybody, but neither side will do that.
I know I have a small audience right now as a new blogger, but I hope some of you reading are convinced that we can't turn this country over to the Democrats. Not now, not ever.
The level of hypocracy and arrogance in the Democratic party is astounding.

The Political Brief
What tickles me is that for all Obama's great speechifying and convoluted nonsence, McCain effectively shut him up with the selection of Sarah Palin as his VP. Reality trumped rhetoric!!!
