Politics Realm - A Conservative Perspective

The man IS a Gimmick

August 5th 2008 05:38
Barack, the man who claims to be against gimmicks, sees "our pain" from his jet.

Here's the plan:
1) Take enough money from the oil companies to give everybody a $1,000 check, if you make less than a certain amount of money.
2) Give that money out.

Here's what happens next:
1) Oil companies can now write that off as an expense
2) Oil companies raise prices to cover that expense
3) We pay for the $1,000 rebates at the pump!

Brilliant! NOT!

That's typical of the "substance" of Barack Obama, Jonathan. His other "solution" to our pain at the pump is to "invest" in new technology like solar and wind (because it would take years to get the oil even if we started drilling tomorrow). It has yet to occur to him that running vehicles on solar and wind power won't be possible for several years! His "thought process" is baffling, isn't it?

Is that really accurate?

He was talking about the gas rebate yesterday. And has mentioned it often in the last couple of weeks. Yes, TimmyH, it's all accurate. Sadly enough.

Yup, it's accurate.

There's a simple economic principle here:

Unless we become a socialist, fascist state and set price controls, any taxes or other costs we impose on corporations will be passed on to the customers of those corporations.

So, if we created a windfall profits tax, the oil companies and any other company with a "windfall" would pass the cost of those taxes onto their consumers.

And by the way, the Oil companies have a profit margin of 7%, Microsoft has a profit margin of 14% . . .

Everybody knows it but nobody is saying it - He's just a token black man in the world of politics. No real substance behind that oh so sweet face, but we as a nation have been told over and over again to never dismiss a black person.
